As an artist and designer, Kate E. Burke is curious, constantly learning and growing. Currently her work is focused on pattern, textile design, fashion and accessories. Kate E. finds inspiration in the natural world, like wild life, minerals and space imagery. She translates complicated and intricate natural objects into simple ink and watercolor drawings. Turning these drawings into graphic pattern repeats, she creates screen printed fabric. Kate E. also experiments with dye to create vibrant organic color mixes. She uses these processes as a way to catalog life, memories and experience. Kate E. explores ways pattern and color can become bold clothing and accessories by layering and mixing her screen printed designs with her dyed fabric. Kate E. Burke currently maintains her textile studio in the historic Strawberry Hill neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas.
